Air Force Staff Sergeant Michelle Manhart has been relieved of her duties after posing nude in February's issue of Playboy Magazine. Michelle Manhart posed wearing dog tags, work out clothes and of course completely naked. I've never really thought about nude pictures getting you kicked out of the military. Wouldn't seeing Michelle Manhart nude be a morale booster for troops? Certainly better than seeing naked pictures of your enemy. Although I supposed looking at nude pictures of your Staff Sergeant might make it tough to fly a plane, although I regulary read Playboy while driving and I don't seem to have any problems. But that's me, and I'm exceptional.

This is the reason why women shouldn't be in the military. Sex and combat fighting while protecting your friends just never go together.
The AF is complaining because their top ranks are top heavy with fundamentalist Christians. Have you read about the lawsuits against the Academy for discrimination against non-Christians and Christians who are not fundamentalists?

You've got to be sh!tting me. She's violated the Uniformed Code of Military Justice by accepting an off-duty job without permission. Furthermore, as a non-commissioned officer AND drill sergeant, her troops would not respect her after seeing those pictures. Being a drill sergeant (one who instructs recruits in the ways of the military), she should
have known better. Her job was to know.
The bottom line is that she knew the rules and decided to break them. She did it because there is more shock value in a service member posing nude, as opposed to a former service member.
The precedence has been set. Every time a woman in the military, police dept or any other profession diminishes that organization's prestige by posing nude, she is fired. She wanted the press and hype, and now she's getting it. I hope she gets confined- but the Care Force is too kind...

You obviously never served in the military or you would know that Christanity and the military don't go hand in hand. I am not going to waste my time even trying to educate you on it because you obviously didn't do your research. I will say this, women don't belong in the military, especially when we have all these able 'men' in this country. Then again I forgot, the so called men are to busy getting their ears pierced and trying to compete with the females.

Yeah, she broke the rules. So, they should throw her out completely and she should take up a modeling career earning millions and have the last laugh.

Being in the military position she was in, she DID & I will say this again, DID know her actions would have consequences. Secondly, how many other people knew of what Mrs. Manhart was about to do with Playboy? I am sure others did express their concern for her re: her career and the future in the military. She proceeded anyways.
If a man posed nude for Playgirl there would be consequences as well. For example, in the military, being unfaithful to your spouse is against their rules as well. Let us reflect on the COMMANDER IN CHIEF (Former President Mr. Bill Clinton) CHEATING on his wife & LYING to the American Public. He did not lose his job. Now how can anyone justify the highest military leader doing what he did and maintaining his position? Yet, the military can fire Mrs. Manhart? Remember-Mrs. Manhart served her country by fighting in war, which she could have ended up died. Furthermore, she did not organize a protest against OUR GREAT country in another country. Her crime is her taking off her clothes & rep. a position she held within the United States Airforce. Thank goodness for all the brave people like her!!!
In closing, there should be consequences because rules are rules. Two wrongs don't make a right. But I am not sure if they should fire her and make her lose her entire time invested with the military.
Females in the military. I am a female & starting to wonder about a lot of the issues coming to surface with this long war in Iraq. The US is paying females for basic training. Immed. after basic training the female ends up preg and can get out of the military on medical discharge. Males cannot get preg and cannot get out on medical discharge. It is a double edge sword.
I am not saying females should not be in the military but I am thinking the government needs to address preg and unplanned preg with females. Have a set plan even if they do become preg X amt of time off like a NORMAL job would do.
