Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

In case you missed Charlize Theron last night on David Letterman here’s a few arrival snaps to fill you on what you missed. Sure, the show had works and an interview, but that’s now what you really care about now is it.

Clip - Steve Carell on John Stewart

Thursday, June 19th, 2008

Classic rapport between Stewart and Carell. Essentially almost seven minutes of talking about nothing and still very funny. Probably need to like both these guys to ‘get it’, but damn funny if you do.

Dirt Cancelled

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

Courtney Cox’s FX series has been cancelled after two seasons, Fox News reports. If you’ve never watched Dirt, here’s a montage of scenes that might make you want to catch some reruns. (And by montage I mean lots of breasts and Courtney Cox getting down with her vibrator).

Sportscaster Jim McKay Dies at Age 86

Monday, June 9th, 2008

Famed sportcaster for ABC’s long running Wide World of Sports, Jim McKay, died of natural causes over the weekend. There are two voices in sports I associate with my youth - Vin Scully calling Dodger games (the greatest) and Jim McKay on Wide World of Sports every weekend. RIP.

Lost Finale Leaves More Unanswered Questions

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

Well I finally got around to firing up the DVR and watching the Lost finale. I managed to avoid most of the spoilers, expect for the biggest one - that being John Locke (Jeremy Bantham) was the man in the coffin. A good finale, but not great. I think the last few episodes of the season were actual better.

Few things that bugged me about the Lost finale:

Unnecessary strangeness. Yes, moving an entire island demands all suspension of disbelief, but did Ben really need to go into a frozen chamber to do it? Over the top I say

Rambo bomb guy comes back to life. Yes, body armor saved him, but come on. I’m glad Ben got he revenge and stuck a knife in his jugular, and understand he needed to die to blow up the boat, but the bloody “I’m still alive zombie” kind of thing was week.

Jen dying. Bummer I liked his character. Maybe he got blown off the boat?? He was standing near the end of it.

Now on to the questions. The episode finally brought us to the core of the island - almost literally - and we saw exactly how the Oceanic 6 made it to safely and how the lie began - but plenty of new mysteries came up.

  • How did Ben make it back?
  • Where did the island go?
  • Just why do the the Oceanic 6 + Locke need to go back to the island?
  • What the hell was with the big wheel Ben was turning? And why so cold?
  • Where in the hell did Claire end up, and what does Jack’s father have to do with all this?
Personally I’m glad they’ve brought their lives back to the mainland. I can’t wait to see where everything goes. Probably time to hit ABCs web site for some missing pieces.
